it is not a difficult thing to do to criticize wts literature, however i found this comment in a recent wt very enlightening as it seems to explain the unscholarly nature of much of what they produce.
it also is an object lesson on how to manipulate a conditioned group of people by the use of 'trigger words'.
i have highlighted these expressions, which are deliberately used by writing, as we have previously discussed to 'encourage' the readers to adopt a patently flawed line of reasoning.

i found out today that there is a new insert in the kingdom ministry coming up which is all about how to treat disfellowshipped ones.
aparrently they are clamping down on it big time.
has anyone else heard of this or seen it?
There was a post about a week ago on this. It was from the July KM:
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=32659&site=3
i almost didn't have time to read the morning's paper, but a banner at the top of the front page entitled "cheerleading for jehovah" got my attention.
interesting comments in the toronto star can be read here.
the article has obvious input from the society and seems to be a pr type move in light of recent bad canadian press (calgary blood case) and likely future canadian programs exposing jws and child abuse.. interesting comments:.
I just send an email off to the Star and told them the other side of the story. The link is:

my name is jesika and i was raised one of jehovah's witnesses.
i was what they call disfellowshipped or shunned by the tender age of 15. i haven't spoken to anyone on my dad's side of the family other than my dad for over 11yrs.
they refuse to have anything to do with me because of their religion.
Good letter Jesika. You go get them girl.

my daddy wants to sue the elders!!!!
i am having a tremendous amount of fun with this, not that i would let him do it, (wouldnt do any good), but i find it so very sweet of him.
here is what happened.
A fundamental concept of American constitutional law is separation between church and state. This basic concept severely limits any inquiry by a secular court into religious matters. When dealing with matters of church administration and government -matters purely of ecclesiastical cognizance-secular courts have no power to review church decisions. In Watson v. Jones. 13 Wallace 679, 80 U.S. 679. 727 (1871), the United States Supreme Court held:
I was reading the link that Incense_and_Peppermints posted up above. Interesting to note although a little of the topic. the US constitution allows for them to administer and govern matters purely of "ecclesiastical cognizance". Some one correct me here, but I get out of this statement that judicial committees are only allowed to judge moral issues and not criminal issues. So where do they get off of sticking their noses into any matters that are criminal in nature? i.e. child abuse, rape, stealing etc. These cases surely should be turned over to the laws of the land to be dealt with.

well yesterday i go the visit of two elders of my congregation, my wife told them that i was acting like an apostat as i talked two days before to two mormons, yes i told them that that they were in a cult like the jw's and they couldn't think for themselves like us, boy i got a real sermon from them, my wife told them that i was on anti-depresants and that they made me ack a bit crazy sometimes, well i know one thing, it wont be the last time i will here from them.
i know 3 years ago i got a talk by the elders but that time it was for buying lotto tickets, again my wife found a ticket in my pocket that i forgot when i put my cholths for washing.
i got the talk, but no sanctions again.
What a loving spouse, boy can you trust her. Sheesh.
Yeah sounds like my ex.

the following is merely my opinion on the issue and while some may disagree and that is their right im sure that there are those who will fully understand what i am talking about- (aint it nice to be able to disagree and not be called wicked smile).
since leaving wt and looking back i have been often wondered and it has.
I think that Jesus believed in equality for all. As a matter of fact scrolls have come to light to indicate that Mary Magdalene had a big part in the early Christian movement. It was the Apostle Paul's concept of Christianity that has put women down for the last 2 thousand years.

So do you think some of my points are valid? Is this a left over from our primeval ancestors religious belief system?

You are correct on your point but I ask When did this all start?? I understand there was civilization in the early pre biblical times that treated both sexes equally. The bible that was written 4 to 5 thousand years ago was already propagating the male dominance of the human species.
